The architectural legacy of the Badami Chalukyas lives on in the exquisite temples of Aihole, Badami, and Pattadakal, a cluster of small towns in Northern Karnataka. The powerful Chalukya dynasty ruled most of the Deccan between the 6th and 12th centuries.

Badami -Once the capital of the mighty Chalukyas, and their cave temples are one of the finest artchitecture Chalukya’s gifted us. The town faces the Agastya lake which is surrounded by two hills, Vatapi and Ilvala named after the two demon siblings who wreaked havoc in the region till the sage Agastya outsmarted them.
Aihole, on the bank of the Malaprabha river, is considered a cradle of temple architecture in South India. Scattered around the village, are about a hundred temples, ranging from rock cut shrines to full fledged structural temples, in varying states of preservation. The town faces the Agastya lake which is surrounded by two hills, Vatapi and Ilvala named after the two demon siblings who wreaked havoc in the region till the sage Agastya outsmarted them.

Know before you go

  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations. Travellers littering may be fined
  • Carry a water bottle so that you can refill
  • We will stick to our time schedule and we will not be waiting for any late running trains/buses. Please book your tickets accordingly
  • On the first day, 4 rooms will be available for guests to freshen up and store their bags since the hotel's check-in time is at noon. In the evening, everyone will receive their designated rooms according to the mentioned inclusions. And on Day 2, before sightseeing we will be checking out all rooms and keep 4 rooms to freshen up
  • No reimbursement will be provided for any services of the trip that remain unused
Itinerary

Day 1

7:30AM- Checking into Hotel
After breakfast and freshen up exploring Badami on foot which is 1km away from Hotel
Cave temples
Badami Archeological Museum
Northern hills (Which include Upper and lower shivalaya)
After the visit will come back to hotel for the lunch and will go out for the evening walk to Bhoothnath Temple and Agasthya Lake to watch the sunset glory of the temple.
After the visit you are free to roam around the small village and the town for some street food and join back again for dinner at 8:00PM

Day 2

8:00AM- Starting to Pattadakkal – Red town of Chalukyans
Visit the ten temple complex and have breakfast
12:00PM- Off to Aihole
Every stone here turned to a sculpture and among the 154 temple complexes we will be visiting the following
– Durga temple complex
– Lad Khan temple
– Ambigera Gudi complex
– Mallikarjuna temple complex
– Eniyar temples complex
– Hucchimalli temple complex
– Ravanaphadi rock-cut temple
– Jain temple and Meguti temple
– Hucchappayya Math complex

Will take break for Lunch and wil continue the exploration
4:30PM: Back to hotel
Freshen up and leave to Badami Railway station

FAQ

Why is the joining point in Mangalore why not anywhere in Kerala?

As people are joining from different part of India it’s difficult to manage them. So picking up from everywhere is not possible.

How to reach Badami?

From Bangalore there is daily running train and buses are there to Badami. Those who are travelling from Kerala has to reach Bangalore and get this train/bus. Train is Golgumbaz Express 16535 from SBC and Buses available in www.ksrtc.in

Will I get any companions to travel from my city?

Offcourse, once you register and pay, you will get added to the group of traveller who is in for this trip. There you can see other people who travelling from your city

Do we need to carry our bags everywhere?

No. During the stay at each places you can keep the bag at your room.

Do I need to carry any blankets?

No Hotels will provide pillows, blankets and other necessities for the stay

Can I take my kid along with me in this trip?

Yes but the charges are applicable.

  • For cancellations done prior to the 30 days or more of the date of departure, initial deposit amount or 25% of the tour cost will be charged as cancellation charges.
  • For cancellations done between 29 days to 15 days prior to the date of departure, 50% of the tour cost will be charged as cancellation charges.
  • For cancellations done between 14 days to 8 days of the tour, 75% of the tour cost will be charged as cancellation charges.
  • For cancellations done within 8 days of the tour, 100% cancellation charges will apply and you will receive no refunds.
  • No refund of money is admissible on cancellations due to any type of contingencies or unforeseen circumstances including, but not limited to natural calamities, lockdowns, any covid induced scenarios or otherwise
