Embracing the Spirit of Travel
Krishnaveni’s journey as a traveler began in her childhood, accompanying her family on numerous trips. However, after her marriage, a new desire bloomed within her: to explore the world with friends. This dream, nurtured over the years, finally came true when Krishnaveni embarked on her first solo adventure in 2017 at the age of 54. With encouragement from her loved ones and the support of a travel group called Appooppanthaadi, her journey of self-discovery and empowerment began. In this blog, we’ll take you through Krishnaveni’s inspiring travel experiences and how solo travel can transform your life.
Krishnaveni’s First Solo Trip: A Life-Changing Experience
In 2017, at the age of 54, Krishnaveni took the leap into solo travel with her first independent trip to Coorg. This trip, organized by Appooppanthaadi, marked a significant turning point in her life. Though her family expressed concern for her safety, their constant support and encouragement made it easier for her to pursue her travel goals. During her Coorg trip, Krishnaveni made lasting friendships, many of which she cherishes to this day. The sense of camaraderie, shared experiences, and newfound independence made this trip unforgettable.
The Power of Travel: Krishnaveni’s Journey to Lakshadweep
One of Krishnaveni’s most remarkable travel experiences was her trip to Lakshadweep, where she traveled by ship from Kochi. The warmth and homely arrangements on the trip, combined with the mesmerizing beauty of the island, made it an extraordinary adventure. A special highlight was an overnight camping experience on an uninhabited island, where a group of ten women came together to cook meals, sleep in tents, dance around a campfire, and create memories for a lifetime. This trip not only allowed Krishnaveni to connect deeply with nature but also reinforced her belief that travel offers the most profound life lessons.
Travel as Therapy: How Solo Travel Transforms Your Mindset
For Krishnaveni, travel is therapy. She believes that it rejuvenates her mind and body, helping her embrace new cultures and lifestyles. Solo travel has taught her valuable lessons in independence, adaptability, and problem-solving. These life skills have helped Krishnaveni navigate her adventures with confidence and grace.
Travel has also made her more appreciative of her surroundings and her life, providing a deeper sense of self-discovery and fulfillment. Krishnaveni’s travels have not only been about exploring new places but also about connecting with herself on a deeper level, an experience she describes as both enriching and empowering.
Beyond Travel: Krishnaveni’s Ventures into Cooking and Modeling
Krishnaveni’s passion for new experiences didn’t stop at travel. After spending 25 years in the corporate world, she decided to slow down and embrace her other interests: cooking and modeling.
Veni’s Samayalarai: A Culinary Journey
In March 2019, Krishnaveni started her culinary venture, Veni’s Samayalarai (Veni’s Kitchen), after a potluck event at her daughter’s workplace. Her authentic South Indian rice dishes impressed her daughter’s colleagues, many of whom were staying in hostels, and they encouraged her to cook for them on weekends. This led to the creation of her thriving home-cooking business. In 2023, Krishnaveni’s culinary skills were recognized when she was awarded the title of Best Vegetarian Home Chef by a popular food group in Trivandrum.
Modeling: A New Adventure
In 2023, Krishnaveni discovered her passion for modeling when she participated in a few photoshoots for friends. Later that year, she had the exciting opportunity to work on her first commercial project: a photoshoot for Jos Alukkas, alongside renowned actor Madhavan. This marked the beginning of her modeling journey, leading her to participate in 11 commercials for national and international brands like Decathlon and Amazon. Krishnaveni’s success in modeling proves that age is never a barrier to new opportunities.
Krishnaveni’s Message to Fellow Travelers
Krishnaveni believes that age is not a limitation to pursuing your passions. As she says, “If you have a burning desire to achieve something, keep that spark alive, and the universe will conspire to help you.” Travel has taught her to embrace each moment, adjust to new situations, and enjoy life’s adventures to the fullest.
For those considering solo travel, Krishnaveni offers this advice: don’t let fear hold you back. With the right mindset, travel can be a powerful tool for self-discovery, empowerment, and personal growth.
The Transformative Power of Solo Travel
Krishnaveni’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of solo travel. From her first trip to Coorg with Appooppanthaadi to her unforgettable experiences in Lakshadweep, she has embraced each opportunity to grow, connect, and discover herself.
